Pandemic EBT provides families financial support to cover the cost of groceries while your children are missing free meals during school closures. This benefit is provided to ALL families whose children receive free and reduced-price school meals in Oregon. If you already get SNAP or free school meals, you’ll get the benefits automatically. If you weren’t getting help before the pandemic, apply online for free school meals at www.ode.state.or.us/apps/frlapp. Apply for SNAP at www.oregon.gov/dhs/assistance/food-benefits/pages/p-ebt.aspx.
The Giving Plate is now offering a drive-up style food-box service. Drive-up in our back lot and get in line and one of our amazing volunteers will come to your car, at a safe 10-foot distance, to get the information needed for us to get you a box of food.
Shepherd’s House will continue to provide critically needed services to the Central Oregon homeless community, and to anyone in need during this state of emergency. Services include: food, clothing, supplies, and walk-up help at Shepherd’s House Ministries.
SNAP participants will get a supplemental benefit up to the maximum SNAP amount for your household size if your monthly SNAP benefit is less than the maximum amount for your household.
Bend-La Pine Schools’ will offer free grab and go meals e to children age 0 to 18, Monday to Friday through April 28, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Each grab and go meal includes items for both breakfast and lunch.
Local Restaurants stepping up during COVID-19 include:
- Laughing Planet: Giving free lunches to kids on meal assistance programs during closures. Just walk into a location and request a meal for your child. They are providing quesadillas or burritos, corn or broccoli, with apple juice or milk.
- Olive Garden: Offering takeout orders of mac & cheese or spaghetti for children.
- Great Harvest Bread Co: Offering free bread to anyone in need.
- Village Baker: Giving turkey & cheese sandwiches or peanut butter & jelly sandwiches with fruits/veggies and a cookie to kids while supplies last.
We Are Bend, a coalition of restaurants in NorthWest Crossing, have come together to help feed service professionals who are out of work due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Restaurants include:
