Girls on the Run Council Director
Phone: (541) 617-2877 x4
Why are you involved with Boys & Girls Clubs?
I believe that it takes a village to support the youth in our community, and that a variety of positive adult mentors can help our youth excel in all areas of their lives. I love being able to facilitate a life changing, self esteem building program that has a real, lasting impact on the girls in our community.
What path did you take to end up here?
I became involved with the clubs nearly a decade ago when I was hired as an education coordinator at our East Bend club. At first, I thought that position would be a short term role and not a long term career. I was surprised with how much I enjoyed developing relationships with the club members and seeing them everyday. I eventually became the education director at East Bend, and then moved to work in the learning center at the Downtown Club, as an education coordinator and then director of that program. While working downtown, I often subbed for the Girls on the Run program when coaches were sick or absent. I loved the GOTR program, and it’s mission of inspiring girls to ‘activate their limitless potential and boldly pursue their dreams’. When the Council Director position became available, I was so excited to step into this role. I fully believe in this program and the impact that it can have on young girls, and I feel very lucky to be able to work for an organization with values that are so closely aligned with my own.
