Steve moved to Bend in 2016 after retiring from a successful 43-year business and law enforcement career. His last position was as the Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Houston Texas based Cameron International. Cameron was an $11 billion, 28,000 employee company operating throughout the world in the energy services industry. Steve was responsible for Human Resources, Information Technology, Global Security, and everything else no one wanted.
Steve started his career at age 19 as a firefighter in a Minneapolis suburb. He later became a police officer in the same suburb after graduating with a B.A. from the University of Minnesota. Steve continued his education, receiving a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and becoming licensed as a Psychologist in 1983. He continued his police career by serving as a psychologist for the Los Angeles Police Department in 1983-84 and then as a part-time crisis psychologist with the Minneapolis Police Department and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Teams until January 2013. His total law enforcement career spanned 38 years. In addition to volunteering for the Boys and Girls Club, Steve is a member of Team Adam within the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children based in Alexandria Virginia.
Steve and his wife, Cathy, chose Bend for its healthy outdoor lifestyle, friendly people and as a magnet for their children and grandchildren who live in Portland and Dillon, Montana. Steve started volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in 2018 because he truly believes in the power our organization brings to children and the community.
